About Northwest Black Women's Consortium

The Northwest Black Women’s Consortium is a collective of professional Black Women who share their lived experiences with each other and with the community. We are the ones who are already involved in sparking change in our communities. We support each other, work for change, perform acts of service, share resources, and brainstorm ideas. We are usually the first ones on the front line. We provide speakers for conferences and share experience, strength, and hope.

We can speak professionally from our own lived experiences about many topics such as;

overcoming challenges regarding culture and/or gender
intersectionality, race, bias, and equity
recovery from drugs and alcohol
domestic violence
mentoring youth
single parenthood
sexual violence
trauma and PTSD
succeeding in the workplace
surviving the sex industry
surviving incarceration
body image
decluttering, downsizing and hoarding
faith formation and interacting with organized religion
religion vs. spirituality
caregiving for a child or elder
loss of a loved one

and many other life-changing events such as physical injury, accident, or diagnoses of ongoing health challenges such as Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Cancer, or other chronic illnesses. We are survivors, thrives, and overcomers!

We focus on supporting each other and making ends meet. We are the ones who nurture our children, elders, family members, friends, and other community members in daily living. We are professionals in our various fields with credentials and degrees that reflect years of experience in the workplace and in the Seattle Area.

We share resources, grants, zoom space, and our concerns. We can write, call or advocate for each other as a collaborative group. We encourage and prioritize self-care and ongoing spiritual and emotional growth. Please call me, Mary Williams at 206-819-3302 to discuss how we can partner with your organization to brainstorm, create curriculum, facilitate your class or speak at your event.

Preserving, maintaining, connecting, and building communities of the African Diaspora. Empowering the community that embodies the culture. Teaching the history, creating programs for success, connecting community to opportunities, and building a vision for the future.
